At LWYRUP, energy-intensive AI features run preferably when solar power is directly available. Instead of providing computing capacity around the clock by artificial means, we have deliberately chosen a different path: we adapt our computing power to the available energy – not the energy to our computing needs.
That means: while classic functions such as your portal, documents, deadlines and messages remain available at all times, some AI convenience features wait for the next sunrise when there is no solar energy.
Not because it would be technically necessary.
But because we believe that digital infrastructure should take responsibility.
Why we do this
The internet gives the impression that everything must be available at all times, without delay. That expectation has a price: data centres consume enormous amounts of energy worldwide – day and night.
We want to show that it can be done differently.
Not every computation has to happen immediately. Not every AI request is an emergency. Some tasks may wait until the sun provides the energy for them.
For us, this is not a sacrifice, but a conscious decision.
